Learning Reiki: Remembering Who We Truly Are

ree

In today’s world, many of us are searching for ways to feel better, calmer, and more connected. We turn to books, courses, or new techniques — believing that if we just find the right tool, we’ll finally feel whole.

We seek something outside of ourselves to bring peace within. We think, “I must be missing something — that’s why I don’t feel well, that’s why I can’t focus.”

But what if nothing is missing? What if the peace, clarity, and strength we long for are already here — quietly waiting beneath the noise of daily life?

Many come to Reiki with the hope of gaining something new — a healing technique, a spiritual tool, or a special gift. But Reiki is not something to be acquired. It is a remembering.

Reiki does not give us power. It calls us home.

Reiki Is Life Energy — and So Are We

Reiki (霊気) is the universal life energy — the subtle, formless essence that flows through all of life. It is not outside us. It is what we are.

When we begin to practice Reiki, we are not adding anything to ourselves. We are simply removing what is not true — aligning with the energy that has always been here: silent, steady, compassionate.

As Frans Stiene beautifully writes:

“Reiki is not something we do. It is something we are.”— The Way of Reiki: The Inner Teachings of Mikao Usui

Beyond Tools and Techniques

Reiki is often misunderstood as a method. But the original system of Reiki is not about performance or tools — it is a spiritual practice, a way of being.

There is no need to control, to fix, or to force. Reiki invites us into softness, into breath, into presence. It is here that true healing arises — naturally, quietly, without demand.

Accepting Our Wholeness

In Reiki, we are not trying to become better — we are remembering that we are already whole.

We welcome all parts of ourselves — light and shadow, sorrow and joy — and allow the energy of life to move through us without resistance. Each time we sit in Gasshō, each time we return to the Precepts, we open again to the truth of our being.

A Journey of Remembering

The path of Reiki is not upward — it is inward. We are not rising to become something greater; we are settling into the essence that has never left us.

We remember: We are love. We are light. We are whole.

Not through striving — but through stillness.

The Quiet Joy of Returning

And how do we feel when we reconnect with this truth?

We feel spacious. Soft. Rooted. We feel less afraid. More alive. We feel a quiet joy — not from what we’ve gained, but from what we’ve released.

The burden of becoming lifts, and the grace of being flows in.

In this space, we remember: Nothing was ever missing. We were always here.

An Invitation to Begin (or Begin Again)

Often, people come to learn Reiki without ever having experienced it before — simply following that quiet, inner call of the heart. It’s not always logical or planned; it’s something deeper, a gentle whisper from the essence within saying, “It’s time.”

That inner calling is the beginning of remembrance. Reiki meets us where we are — tenderly, without judgment — and guides us back to our natural state of peace and connection.

During Reiki training, through the sacred process of attunement, we awaken the flow of life energy within. We learn to connect with it consciously — to feel it, to use it for self-healing, and to share it with others. We explore simple yet profound practices and meditations that help us walk the path back to ourselves — nurturing mindfulness, balance, and a healthy, joyful life.

Whether you come to Reiki seeking healing, clarity, or simply because something inside you says yes, know that you are answering a call from your own soul.

Each class, each practice, each breath is an invitation to return — to stillness, to wholeness, to yourself.
